Running 1.3.1 on Mac, latest version of everything as far as I am aware. Runs ok, but never saves a file. Any ideas why?

I haven't checked it on OSX but I have Lion at work so I'll give it a try on that in the next few days.

It seems to run fine on OSX Lion but when you select "Choose the output folder" and it gives you a dialog box, in the "Save As:" text field it needs to be a folder (selected from beneath it), not a file name (this is a file dialog quirk of Java on OSX).
The file it creates will appear in that folder as the original name but with ".zx.jpg" (or ".zx.png" etc.) at the end of the file name.
Alternatively just drag a file onto the main image to zx spec window and press convert - the file will just appear in the same folder as the original.
